Creating attic Storage and organization

The one thing that every attic has in common is the bad access that you have to gain access to the attic. The “door” to the attic is small, uncomfortable and you're probably going to need to use the ladder, every time, you want to get into the attic. Using the attic for storage space or for creating another room, you need to have better access to the attic. Here’s some things that you can do to make your attic more accessible with a better entrance.

Make the attic access hole larger

The first thing that you should consider is that you should make the attic access hole a lot larger than what it probably is now. Normally the attic access door isn’t big enough to get through easily, and renovating the attic, you need better access.

With the right equipment, you will be able to make the door to the attic larger. This isn’t a hard job, you just need to know exactly how. If you’re doing the renovations yourself, it’s important to make sure that you handle the process the right way, otherwise you might have a mess on your hands.

The ladder or “stairs” to the attic

Most attics don’t have any stairs or a ladder that will get you into the attic. You normally use your normal ladder to get into your attic. This isn’t practical if you’re going to use your attic more often. The best thing that you can do, when you don’t have the room for making a staircase, is to make a ladder that automatically go up and down when you’re opening the attic door. This is more practical than using your normal ladder.

If you have a staircase to the attic, you’re quite lucky, but you still need to make the staircase as safe as possible. These staircases aren’t always really built to last and going up and down frequently into your new space that you created in your attic, needs to have safe stairs. Especially, if you have small children. You should also consider doing renovations on the stairs of your attic when you’re renovating your attic to make it more livable.

Make the door safe and accessible

Another important thing that you need to remember is that when you’re making your attic into a living space, you need to make sure that your attic door is safe and accessible from the inside. Many attic doors can’t be opened from the inside. This can cause a lot of trouble, if you’re not able to open the door from the inside of the attic. Especially if the door get shut, when someone is still in the attic.

Creating an extra living space in your attic is always a great idea, but the opening or door to the attic is most of the time not in great shape. That's why a Versarail attic ladder safety rail is a great idea.  It doesn’t matter if you have a staircase to the attic or not. It’s important to renovate the door to the attic and make it more accessible and safe. Then, you will create a great extra living space that everyone can enjoy.
